Mary Jean Kleinhenz, 88, of Janesville died at her home on Friday morning, September 30, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born in Janesville on April 29, 1928, the daughter of William J. and Marjorie A. (Provenzano) Dowd. She graduated from Janesville High School with the class of 1946. She married Leslie R. “Swede” Kleinhenz on July 1, 1950 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Janesville. In addition to being a homemaker, Mary was employed as a bookkeeper by the Overton Funeral Home and later by St. William Catholic Church. She was a charter/founding member of St. William Catholic Church where she was also a member of its Altar Society. Mary lived for her family and loved watching professional basketball games.
Mary Kleinhenz is survived by three daughters, Mary Lou (Patrick) McAndrews, Leslie (Rick) Berry and Jeanne (Barry) Bandy, three sons, Thomas (Karen), Joseph (Cheryl) and William (Tanya), twelve grandchildren Crystal (Paul) Campton, Joey Kleinhenz, Abby (Andrew) Henry, Zack (Michelle) Thurner, Justin (Hilary) McAndrews, John (Megan) McAndrews, Kole (Taylor) Kleinhenz, Kendra Kleinhenz, Seth, Mary, Lee and Jedidiah Bandy, six great-grandsons, one great-granddaughter, her sister, Margaret “Peggy” (Herb) Lawrence, many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie “Swede” Kleinhenz in 1989. Her parents, William and Marge Dowd and her brother, William “Bud” Dowd also preceded her in death.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 8, 2016 at St. William Catholic Church officiated by Father Brian Dulli. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, October 7th at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home, 1010 N. Wright Rd., Janesville and at St. William Catholic Church on Saturday from 10 to 10:30 a.m. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowes the family requests that donations be made to either St. William Catholic Church or Agrace Hospice.
